Last night IDF helicopter gunships fired two air-to-surface rockets at the vehicle of Hevron Tanzim commander Marwan Zaloum, killing him instantly. Zaloum was responsible for many fatal terrorist attacks against Israelis including the murder of 10-month-old Shalhevet Pass. An Arab sniper gunned down the Jewish infant while she was in her mother’s arms in front of their Hevron home. Her father was also moderately wounded in the attack.

Also yesterday, two Arab gunmen near Shechem shot and killed 22-year-old Sgt. Maj. Nir Krichman. Krichman was part of a commando unit patrolling in the Northern Shomron in search of terrorists, when the gunmen ambushed the soldiers. Krichman died from his injuries as he was being transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital. He will be laid to rest this afternoon in the military section of the Hadera cemetery.

The other members of Krichman’s unit immediately charged the source of gunfire and successfully killed the two Arabs. They were identified as Taher Nasser, 28, and Iyad Hamdaneh, 22, both members of the Hamas gang. The two were involved in carrying out the terrorist attack on an Israeli bus near the community of Emmanuel last December that left 10 Israelis dead. Nasser was also involved in planning the terrorist infiltration of the Jordan Valley community of Hamra, in which three Israelis were murdered including a mother and daughter.
