Arutz Sheva spoke with Rabbi Chaim Wasserman, President of the Council of Young Israel Rabbis, who is visiting Israel as part of the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors’ visit to the Knesset.

Rabbi Wasserman sees what he called a “Jewish Diaspora alienation”.

“In other words, young Jews are more concerned in being Americans and Canadians and whatever, and have no emotional gut connection to Eretz Yisrael. This is something that never happened. Not from the days of Rabbi Yehuda Halevi and down to World War II,” he said.

“We’re breaking our heads in trying to reverse this,” he admitted, “but the Jewish Agency and all of their committees are doing a fabulous job.”

“As a start we should bring young Jews to Israel. And once they are here, they’ve got to connect," added Rabbi Wasserman.
