מחאה מחוץ לביתו של בנט

Amona residents are are holding a demonstration Saturday night outside Education Minister Naftali Bennett's (Jewish Home) home, protesting the expected expulsion of Amona at the end of the civil year.

Bennett came out and spoke to the demonstrators, saying he will ask for an additional vote on the Regulation Law at Sunday's Knesset meeting.

Amona residents also demonstrated opposite MK Yariv Levin's (Likud) house. Levin, too, came out and said Likud MKs do not intend to thwart the law that will be suggested tomorrow.

Jewish Home faction head MK Shuli Mualem, who submitted the Regulation Law, said Saturday night, "The Regulation Law has a good majority in the Prime Minister's faction. If Netanyahu understands that fifty years after the miracle of the Six Day War we have to regulate Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria, he should vote for this law. If he wants to thwart the Regulation Law without being deserted by the settlements and the right, he can put 10% of the efforts he puts into the media into helping Amona. Then I'll recant the law."

Haaretz said the government is delaying requesting an extension from the High Court. Two weeks ago, PM Netanyhau and MKs Bennett, Shaked, and Lieberman agreed the government would ask to delay Amona's expulsion by six months.

The Haaretz report also said relevant government authorities had spoken to Amona residents and told them the government was asking for an extension because they need time to prepare alternative housing in Shvut Rachel.

Amona residents have announced their refusal to move to Shvut Rachel, warning the High Court that they will not budge from their homes.
