The woman who was saved by a miracle after Arab terrorists shot at her car on Saturday night has been identified as Ruthi Gillis, wife of terror victim Dr. Shmuel Gillis who was murdered in 2001 while driving along the same road.

At the beginning, IDF forces thought she had heard fireworks, but they subsequently found bullet casings proving Gillis was shot at by terrorists while driving home.

Ruthi's husband, Dr. Shmuel Gillis, was murdered by Arab terrorists on February 1, 2001. He was a senior hematologist in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, renowned for both his expertise and his kindness. Dr. Gillis served in the Shaldag commando unit as a doctor in the IDF reserves. He finished his work in Hadassah at 7pm and then started for home. 100 meters before the Aroub refugee camp terrorist car passed him on the highway and began shooting at him with automatic weapons. He was killed with 11 bullets to his head and neck while driving in his car.

Dr. Gillis left behind his wife Ruthi, victim of Saturday night's shooting attack, and 5 children, then aged 3 to 13.
