Haredi party heads Aryeh Deri (Shas), Yaakov Litzman (UTJ), and Moshe Gafni (UTJ), expressed strong objections to the fact that this Shabbat there will be, "work on the train infrastructure, that is not necessary and is unrelated to saving lives."

The faction heads added that the work will be done on Friday night (Shabbat eve), even though, according to their opinion, this work could be done on any weeknight.

"Performing these tasks on Friday night is very grave, and we strongly oppose this trampling of Shabbat's honor," they said.

The party heads noted that, "The number of tasks has indeed been lessened, and most of the workers are not Jews. Still, we protest with all our might against the behavior of the police in this issue, which has been a non-professional cause and has forced this violation of Shabbat, when the work could be done on a weekday.

"We are sorry that a decision on such an important and ethical topic has been decided, without any attempt to prevent violation of the sanctity and observances of the holy Shabbat," added Deri, Gafni, and Litzman.

As stated, the haredi MKs oppose the railway work that is set to be performed this Shabbat in Tel Aviv. This afternoon (Thursday), the police announced that from tomorrow (Friday) night at 11:30pm, until 8:30am on Shabbat morning, there will be renovations in the Savidor-Center railway station in Tel Aviv, which is located near the Ayalon highway (Route 20),between Hahalacha Junction and Arlozorov Junction to the south.

While the work is being done, three of the four southbound lanes will be closed, between Hahalacha Junction and Arlozorov Junction. In addition, the exits from KKL Junction and Rokeach Junction to southbound Route 20 will be blocked off.
