Dozens of friends and family attended the funeral held today (Thursday) of Oleg Yakobov, who was killed in the Tel Aviv parking garage collapse tragedy three days ago.

Yakobov was buried in the new cemetery in Ramle.

His wife Galina remembered her husband: "He was a wall of stability for me. I don't know what I'm going to do now.

"We lived here for several years and I knew I had a strong husband. Because of him, I never had to ask for help from anyone else. Now I don't know what to do. I have rent and bills to pay, and I need my son."

The Population and Immigration Authority this morning approved the request of Anton Yakobov, the stepson of the late Oleg Yakobov, that he be granted the status of a temporary resident.

As a result of the change in his status he will not be deported from Israel, will receive medical and social benefits, and will be issued an official work permit.
