Two shooting incidents in Austin, Texas, have resulted in the death of one woman, and multiple people with gunshot wounds.

The first incident occurred on East 6th Street, at around 2:30 a.m. local time, when people were leaving the bars for home.

Eyewitness Dorian Santiago retold his harrowing experience to Sky News:

"We heard five shots and then people started running crazy ... We don't hear any more shots ...The cops were running behind someone.

"There was a girl freaking out who was injured ... The other one was already on the floor - they were doing CPR to help her but it looked like she was already dead."

According to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, a woman in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene, and 3 more, two women and a man, were evacuated to the UMCB hospital. One more man refused treatment.

Police are still hunting the shooter, a suspect in his 20s, and have not ruled out the possibility that he is among the injured.

Less than 10 minutes later, a man fired a gun in a nearby parking lot. Bystanders tackled him, and no one was injured.

The Austin Police Department initially instructed residents to stay away from the downtown area where the shooting incidents were earlier described as "active." Police now say the scenes are secure.

Police confirmed that the shootings are apparently unrelated.
