Eight Israelis were killed and another 12-14 wounded, several seriously, in an Arab suicide terrorist explosion aboard a bus at Yagur Junction this morning. The attack occurred during rush hour on a bus only 20 minutes from Haifa on its way to Jerusalem. The force of the explosion actually lifted the bus a meter or two into the air. Eyewitnesses say body parts were strewn all over the highway, and the front of the bus was turned into a skeleton of charred metal.
Police continue to investigate how the suicide terrorist managed to evade the army forces that are tightly encircling PA-controlled areas, and from whom he received help. Leading police officials stated that the help of \"outside elements\" was definitely required - clearly implicating Israeli-Arabs.
Following a horrific month of March in which some 120 Israelis were murdered by Moslem Palestinian terrorists, this was the first such attack in April. Police sources say that despite Israel\'s anti-terrorism offensive, many suicide bombers are still planning attacks against Israelis.
The names of seven victims of the attack have been released: Keren Franko, 18, of Kiryat Yam, and No\'ah Shlomo, 18, of Nahariya - two young policewomen; Shimon Stalkon, 25; Michael Weissman; and Sgt.-Maj. Shlomi Ben-Chaim, 26, all of Kiryat Yam; and Sgt.-Maj. Nir Danieli, 24, and Avinoam Alfiya, 23, both of Kiryat Ata.
