Deputy Defense Minster Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan (Jewish Home) offered criticism of former Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon this morning (Thursday) following Yaalon's comments against Rabbis and the Religious-Zionist sector.
Referring to comments against gays made by Eli pre-military academy head Rabbi Yigal Levinstein, ex-Minister Yaalon said yesterday that "the comments [by Rabbi Levinstein] show that the heads of hte academy and the leaders of the Religious-Zionist community more generally need to do some serious introspection, because they're leading towards extremism in a way that is very dangerous."
In an interview with Galei Israel, Ben Dahan retorted: "What's he talking about? He's talking about the Zionist-Religious sector's political leaders; has anyone heard any incitement coming from them? He was sitting in the coalition with them until two months ago, where was he then?"
Ben Dahan opined in the interview that Yaalon's comments stem from his anger at losing the post of Defense Minister. "You don't judge a person in a time when they're in pain. I'm sorry but it appears that he's taking it really hard if he's saying baseless, twisted things.
"I understand one thing, he's bitter," Ben Dahan went on, "he didn't leave his post of his own goodwill. But rather than direct his bitterness toward those who did this to him, he's doing what's most comfortable and attacking the Religious-Zionist community."
