The head of the Art Department at Shenkar College has resigned, after a nude portrait bearing a facial resemblance to Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked was censored for a senior project art exhibit.

The portrait initially went viral, later being censored by Professor Yuli Tamir, the Head of Shenkar College, who reasoned that it could lead to sexual harassment.

Larry Abramson, the head of the Cross-disciplinary Art Department at the school, strongly opposed the censorship, and later announced his resignation from the school.

“Without freedom of expression, we don’t have an art school,” he told Haaretz.

An office from Shenkar College announced: "Professor Abramson has announced his resignation, though the decision is not final and he may retract. This Wednesday, the administration at Shenkar will hold an emergency dialogue for faculty and students, during which the policy of the school will be discussed."
