Days after Tehran conducted a nuclear ballistic missile tests, Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-Moon presented a special report to the UN Security Council which concluded that Iran is not abiding by the terms of the deal.
As part of the deal, certain were placed upon Iran. The new report concludes that Iran is blatantly disregarding the restrictions: "[T]hose ballistic missile launches are not consistent with the constructive spirit demonstrated by the signing” of the deal.
The report also noted Iran’s disregard for the resolution’s restrictions on travel for officials such as the commander of the Quds Force who was sited in Baghdad in violation of the resolution.
Additionally, the report mentioned an American report of Iranian arms smuggling to Yemen by means of a ship, which was eventually caught.
The Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, said in a meeting with the UN Security Council that Iranian missile tests of late prove that Iran is again acting against the decisions of the UN Security Council. "The international community cannot hide its head in the sand and make do with mere words against the Iranian missile threat."
He added, "The members of the Security Council need to understand that Iran's actions do not only oppose the decisions of the Security Council, but pose a serious threat to Israel, the Middle East, and the entire world."
