Even as Knesset and government members work to oust anti-establishment MK Haneen Zoabi (Joint List), it seems clear that even her own party, Balad, doesn't want her around.
A Channel 2 report announced today that it seems Zoabi will not sit in the upcoming Knesset, after she was assigned a near-impossible position in the Balad list.
After internal party elections in June, followed by a meeting Saturday of the political committee of the party, the order of the election list was finalized.
20 candidates ran for a spot on the list; 13 were chosen. Of those, 6 are new.
The first position was handed to MK Dr. Jamal Zahalka, the second to Walid Anabtawi.
Zoabi was handed fifth place. In the standing 20th Knesset, Balad had only 3 seats.
A party activist welcomed the report in a tweet: "The seats need to be refreshed, and great that the road for Hanin Zoabi has been paved to leave!"
While some Arab extremists have firmly backed the pro-Hamas MK, other Israeli-Arabs have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction at the tendency of Zoabi - along with several other Arab MKs - to focus on anti-Israel publicity stunts at the expense of representing their actual constituents' more "mundane" needs.
