The fierce fighting in the last remaining uncaptured square meters of Jenin continued this morning, but the IDF still has not resorted to an all-out bombardment of the area. It is employing \"surgical procedures\" instead, in the words of one senior officer. Ground forces covered by helicopters are attacking the hold-out terrorists, who have laid many powerful bombs against the advancing Israelis and are shooting sniper fire at them. The main fighting is being carried out by Golani, naval commando, and reserve soldiers.

The terrorists also fired this morning at Red Crescent ambulances that came to evacuate their own wounded and dead. Israeli defense sources say that Arafat wants the bodies to remain there in order to leave the impression of an Israeli massacre in Jenin. The number of Arab dead is estimated at 200 or more.

In Shechem, the fighting is basically over, although the several remaining armed Moslem Palestinian terrorists continue to fire periodically at Israeli soldiers. The IDF captured the Kasba area yesterday. Israeli forces entered yet another terrorist-stronghold village this morning - Dura, near Hevron - and began combing it for terrorists and weapons.
