An alligator attacked a two-year-old child in a Florida resort on Tuesday, dragging him into the water. Rescue workers are still searching for him.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the family of five from Nebraska was resting on the shore at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa when the alligator left the water and snatched the young child. The boy's father tried to rescue him, but was unable to do so.

The parents then quickly alerted a lifeguard, who summoned the police. A number of emergency vehicles are still at the scene, while a helicopter searches for signs of the child.

The Grand Floridian is a resort hotel at Disney World. There are signs warning against swimming in the neighboring lake, but they do not mention any alligator threats.

A spokesperson for the Walt Disney Company says that the company is "devastated" by the incident.
