Several leading American Orthodox Jewish organizations, including the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, Young Israel, and the Rabbinical Council of America, have issued a call to all synagogues and members to recite extra prayers in light of the crisis facing Israel. In conjunction with Israel\'s Chief Rabbinate, the groups call for the daily recitation of Psalms 20, 83, 121, 130, and 142. In addition, \"all synagogue members - men, women and children - should gather at their local synagogue\" for a special prayer-and-awakening ceremony this coming Saturday night. Various communities throughout Israel will also be joining in this effort.
