Two Israeli casualties of the last few days\' fighting were buried today. St.-Sgt. (res.) Ophir Roth, 22, of Gan Yoshiya - a small community between Netanya and the Shomron - was killed on Monday by Arab gunfire in the Bethlehem area. Yesterday, company commander Major (res.) Moshe Gerstner, 29, of Rishon LeTzion, was killed by Arab gunfire during the incursion into Jenin. Jerusalem Policeman Tomer Mordechai, 19, who was killed on Monday night while in the course of stopping a suicide bomber, was buried in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
The number of deaths in the Netanya Passover seder slaughter rose to 26 over the holiday, with the deaths of four more victims. Auschwitz-survivor Frieda Britevich, 86, died yesterday, and her husband Alter, 88, passed away on Monday. They were laid to rest this afternoon in Netanya. Ze\'ev Vider, 50, whose daughter Sivan was killed in the same attack - as was his other daughter\'s fiancee - also died this week of his wounds, as did Chana Rogen, 90.
Carlos Yerushalmi, 52, of Karkur, became the 15th victim of the Matza Restaurant massacre in Haifa that occurred this past Sunday. In addition, the young mother who was mortally wounded in the Bialik Cafe suicide attack passed away today; the 36-year-old resident of Bat Yam is survived by three children, and her husband, who was wounded in the same attack, is still hospitalized. The attack occurred in Tel Aviv this past Saturday night.
In other recent P.A. terrorism, an Arab-launched Kassam rocket exploded in a PA-controlled village southeast of Shechem this morning. The terrorists were apparently aiming for the nearby Jewish community of Itamar. In another Palestinian mishap, an Arab woman was killed in Shechem this morning while in the midst of preparing a bomb to be used against Israelis. Arabs also fired at an IDF outpost near Gush Katif; no one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire.
Earlier this week, masked Palestinian gunmen shot dead eight Arabs accused of cooperating with the Israelis. PA security sources said that the killings occurred in Tul Karem in a building used by the PA intelligence services.
