Yesterday evening, at least one Katyusha rocket was fired from Lebanese territory landing in the area of the Galilee Panhandle. The Katyusha hit an open area, causing neither casualties or property damage. The strike last night is the first Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanon since the IDF retreat in May, 2000. The IDF views with severity the continued terrorist activities emanating from Lebanese territory.

In a related item, a UNIFIL investigation has concluded that heavy exchanges of fire along the Lebanese border on Sunday night began when 4 terrorists attempted to infiltrate Israel. UNIFIL commander Maj.-Gen. Lanit Tewari conveyed his grave concern to the Lebanese authorities that the incidents could deteriorate into a wide-scale confrontation.

Regarding the developments in Lebanon, the IDF spokesman said, \"Hizbullah is trying to heat up the area by shooting mortars and rockets at Mt. Dov and even trying to cross over the western sector of the Lebanese border. We hope that we have succeeded in hitting key targets. Hizbullah\'s action, supported by the Syrians and Lebanon, is contrary to UN Resolution 254.\"
