Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton won the Republican and Democratic primaries in Missouri, it was announced Tuesday, nearly one month after the ballots were cast.

40.9% of Missourians voted for Trump, winning over rival Senator Ted Cruz (R - TX)'s 40.7%. The difference: a mere 1,965 votes.

Clinton won over rival Senator Bernie Sanders (D - VT) by the same margin, with 49.6% of voters choosing the former Secretary of State, versus 49.4% for Sanders; that difference constitutes just 1,574 votes.

939,000 Missouri residents voted in the Republican primaries; 629,000 voted in the Democratic primaries.

Each candidate will win 34 delegates as the result of the vote, Politico reports - but with "superdelegates," Clinton will now have 46.

The Associated Press has not yet officially declared a victory for Trump, ABC News reports, due to the possibility of Cruz asking for a recount. Under Missouri law, candidates who lose by less than one-half of a percentage point may request a recount at the state's expense within 7 days.
