The IDF continues to seek ways to silence the Palestinian mortar shells. Last night, after four such shells were fired towards Kibbutz Nachal Oz - east of the Gaza Strip, within pre-1967 Israel - the army destroyed three Palestinian posts from where the shells were fired. Aircraft did not participate in the Israeli attack, which hit Palestinian para-military and Fatah stations. From Friday through last night, the Palestinians fired 32 shells towards Israeli towns and army targets in and around Gaza.
The IDF evaluation is that the Palestinians will continue to fire mortar shells. It is assumed that the mortar guns are either manufactured in Gaza or are smuggled in from Egypt.
