Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home) has offered a strong response to reports of Israeli officials holding secret talks with the PA. The talks focused on an Israeli offer to remove the IDF from cities in Area A of Judea and Samaria.

"As a member of the Security Cabinet, I protest the existence of a shadow government acting in secret and seeking to return the country to path of retreats from Oslo," she said.

"It was not for this that we were elected. We didn't enter the government for this. We do not dedicated long hours to Cabinet discussions for this and we won't allow this to happen."

Earlier today, Haaretz reported that Israel and the Palestinian Authority have been holding secret talks for the past month about a gradual withdrawal of Israeli security control over Palestinian cities in Judea and Samaria, and transferring their control to the PA.

The withdrawal would begin with Ramallah and Jericho. Should it prove successful, the IDF would leave more and more cities.

However, an official told Arutz Sheva that there is no agreement with the PA to cease the IDF's actions in Area A. He said that the talks were part of a security arrangement with PA security. The official, who wished to remain anonymous, emphasized that the IDF always reserves the right and the ability to enter any place according to the operational needs.
