Special IDF and Border Guard forces arrived on the scene, and evacuated the dead and wounded from the lower floor and the other two - a mother and daughter - by ladder from the second floor. They then waged a battle with the terrorist and killed him. Some media reports emphasized that Elon Moreh has no fence around it - but town-elder Benny Katzover said that fences around other Yesha towns \"take about 10-20 seconds to cross\" and are not a solution to terrorism.

Avraham Gavish, an officer in the General Staff, was buried with military honors.
