One person was killed when a bus carrying dozens of people overturned on Wednesday night as it was traveling on Highway 77 near the Arab town of Zarzir, located near Nazareth in northern Israel.

Paramedics who were called to the scene treated more than 30 people who were lightly injured in the accident, and two people who were seriously injured, one of whom later succumbed to his injuries.

The paramedics helped rescue the passengers from the bus and provided them with treatment at the scene.

One of the paramedics who arrived on the scene said, "When we arrived we saw a bus on in its side in the middle of the highway and a big commotion. Many people stopped by the roadside and locals from nearby villages came to help.

“Some of the passengers who were injured were lying on the road and some were trapped in the bus. We arrived at the scene and we assisted firefighters in rescuing the victims from the bus, and provided them with medical care,” she added.

In February, a horrific bus crash on Highway 1, between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, left six dead and 12 injured.

The fatal accident occurred after a truck driver traveling on the highway noticed an oil leak and pulled over to the shoulder of the road. As the bus was passing the stopped truck it veered out of the lane and into the shoulder, crashing into the right side of the truck.
