Palmach Ze\'evi appeared this week at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where his father - Tourism Minister and former O.C. Central Command Maj.-Gen. (res.) Rehavam Ze\'evi - was assassinated last October, and announced that he will run for the leadership of the Moledet party his father founded. He is thus challenging current party leader Benny Elon. Ze\'evi\'s remarks included his opinion that yeshiva students will have to be trained for warfare, \"as the war for Eretz Yisrael has not yet even started.\" He criticized the current government leaders by saying that when the main concern is for their own political survival, no time is left to worry about matters of state. Palmach concluded, \"The Land of Israel for the People of Israel according to the Torah of Israel.\"

Palmach Ze\'evi did not mention his father\'s trademark idea of transferring the Arab population out of Judea and Samaria, and some thought that he even hinted at the opposite: \"We have to find a way to live together.\" However, Atty. Elad Cohen, head of the Sharon region for Moledet, told Arutz-7\'s Yosef Zalmanson today that he meant precisely the opposite:

\"I do not know Palmach very well, and I hope to get to know him and see if he is worthy of leading the party. On May 19 we will convene and choose the party head... I personally do not know whom I will support, but I do think that Palmach should acquire some experience before heading the party... Regarding transfer: We are the only party that believes in true peace, in that we are the only one that has a solution that will lead to true peace: the transfer of Arabs out of Israel. This will be done by agreement, with international guarantees, etc. If anything, Palmach\'s words indicate that this will be done with their agreement. It won\'t happen tomorrow, as we don\'t believe in the left-wing\'s idea of \'peace right now, but it will happen.\"
