Palestinian warfare continued today, albeit at a reduced pace. A suicide terrorist attack failed this afternoon in the Shomron, when an Arab approached Israeli policemen with an explosives pack. The bomb did not go off, however.

A car bomb exploded near the Biblical Zoo in southern Jerusalem this morning, miraculously killing only the two terrorists inside. Jerusalem police officers, who were on high alert in light of terrorist warnings in the capital, suspected a car driving through one of its newly-placed urban checkpoints. The police signaled the car to stop, and when it did not, they opened fire, causing it to explode. The bomb blew up only 200 meters from the Malcha Mall, which police believe was one of the terrorists\' targets; in addition to the car bomb, an explosives pack was found on one of the dead terrorists. Jerusalem Police Chief Mickey Levy said that a multi-victim attack was prevented.

Yesterday afternoon, Arabs shot at an IDF jeep on the Wallerstein route, north of Ramallah, as well as at an army vehicle near Jenin. Some damage was caused, but no one was hurt. Although the general impression is that terrorism has decreased over the past few days, five Israelis were murdered since Thursday, seven the day before that, and several major attacks have been thwarted by alert security personnel. Arafat has not arrested wanted terrorists, Israeli sources said, but has made it clear that now is not a favorable time for anti-Israeli violence.
