Newly released files leaked by Edward Snowden over the revelation the United States and Britain have spied on the Israeli drone program for the past 18 years, are beginning to show the full extent of the countries' activities.
Apparently, a major part of infiltration mission, entitled "Anarchist, was to spy on the Israeli “black anchor” - a missile which is part of the “Arrow” missile defense program.
The leaks which were originally published by Intercept, Der Spiegel and Yedioth Ahronoth, go far deeper than originally thought. Israeli intelligence sources claim the spying has been the worst intelligence leak in Israel's history.
“Black anchor” is a missile which acts like a fully developed ballistic missile that can be launched from F-15 fighter jets and was developed by Rafael industries. Its purpose is to act as enemy ballistic missiles so that the Arrow defense system known as “wall” can destroy them.
It was previously revealed that in the breach, Israeli coding was cracked by the US and Britain, allowing them direct access to imagery broadcast by a large fleet of Israeli UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) flying sensitive missions in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, as well as throughout the Middle East back to their home bases including Tel Nof, Palmachim and Ein Shemer.
However, it now appears that the Black Anchor missile system was also a target.
While the NSA and the British GCHQ were attempting to gather information about military capabilities across the entire Middle East, Israel seems to have been the primary target.
The point of the anarchist spy mission was to allow US and British intelligence agencies to assess and monitor the strength of foreign militaries including those of allies.
