Alert IDF Golani Brigade soldiers thwarted a possible catastrophe last night. The troops were examining vehicles at a temporary checkpoint east of Hadera when they noticed something suspicious about a car driven by an Arab man. As the soldiers approached the vehicle, the driver jumped out and fled the scene. Bomb squad technicians were called and it was discovered that the car was wired with explosives. Sappers succeeded in neutralizing the device without incident. The Arab was on his way to perpetrate a major attack inside pre-1967 Israel.
This morning an IDF soldier stationed in Hevron was lightly wounded in the leg by Arab gunfire. Arabs had opened fire on IDF positions and threw at least one explosive device at the soldiers. The troops returned fire and a gun battle ensued, at which point the soldier was injured.
In other incidents last night three mortar shells were fired at the Gush Katif community of Gadid; A motorist traveling near the community of Avnei Chafetz in the Shomron was targeted by terrorist gunfire; Gunfire was reported directed at the Shomron community of Har Bracha east of Ra\'anana and at the IDF battalion command in the area.
