Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said this morning that he will wait until tomorrow before making a decision on whether or not to allow PLO leader Yasser Arafat to attend this week\'s Arab League Summit in Beirut. Sharon felt that his security cabinet should wait until Foreign Minister Shimon Peres returns from his visit to China before beginning the discussions about Arafat.

In a related matter, former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated in a TV interview last night that Arafat should be permitted to leave for Beirut but not permitted to return. Netanyahu said that Arafat must be exiled and the Palestinian Authority must be dismantled. He said that this also includes the confiscation of the illegal weapons being used against Israel in daily attacks.
