Grassroots Zionist movement Im Tirtzu filed a complaint with the Jerusalem police Sunday against the New Israel Fund (NIF), following the NIF's current media campaign, in which a picture of late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin appears with the text: “they already dealt with this planted agent."

The NIF’s campaign is a direct reaction to the "foreign agent" campaign mounted by Im Tirtzu in December, and in essence – according to the complaint – accuses Im Tirtzu of Rabin’s assassination.

According to Im Tirtzu, the Municipality of Jerusalem recently turned down a request by the NIF to purchase advertising space on billboards for the campaign citywide. The municipality allegedly said that the ads would comprise libelous speech against Im Tirtzu, since they indirectly accuse it of carrying out the assassination of Rabin.

Im Tirtzu's complaint accuses the NIF of incitement to violence or to terrorism, and of publishing libelous speech with the intent to cause harm.

Matan Peleg, Chairman of the “Im Tirtzu” movement, stated: “the New Israel Fund, despite its misleading name, is an American fund which has supported, since its inception and with millions of dollars, radical and extremist organizations that incite against Israel Defense Forces soldiers and persecute IDF officers.

"It also promotes the boycott of Israeli products and strives to isolate Israel from the rest of the international community. Breaking the Silence, Adalah, B’Tselem, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), Bimkom – Planners for Planning Rights, Musawa - The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession, Machsom Watch and others are merely a few of the embedded foreign agent organizations that the New Israel Fund (NIF) funds," said Peleg.

"The New Israel Fund is the queen of all embedded foreign agent organizations," he added.

According to Peleg, the NIF is in deep trouble since the public has learned of the activities of Ezra Nawi of Ta'ayush, who together with a leading B’Tselem activist turned in to the Palestinian authorities Palestinian citizens who chose to sell land to Jews, leading the Arabs to be tortured and murdered. In addition, it has been revealed that Breaking the Silence gave Nawi cash in order to organize protests against soldiers, and alleged ties between Breaking the Silence and the BDS movement against Israel have also been exposed.

"Therefore, the NIF has no choice but to try and protect the octopus it has created by means of incitement, spreading libelous speech and defamation of the Im Tirtzu movement."

Peleg noted that "it is not surprising that according to the Smith Research Institute, 53% of Israeli society would like to see the New Israel Fund removed from the State of Israel.”
