Despite the perceived dangers in traveling almost anywhere these days, buses continue to depart twice daily for Rachel\'s Tomb from the Jerusalem Bus Station - and hourly private buses will join the fray during the Pesach holiday. Private groups have issued a call for increased presence at the holy site: \"Your prayers at Kever Rachel Imeinu [Matriarch Rachel\'s gravesite] will strengthen Am Yisrael spiritually, while ensuring Israel\'s control over this major holy site.\" The buses will leave the Gilo-Bethlehem intersection hourly between 9 AM and 5 PM on Sunday and Monday of Passover.
The Hevron Jewish Community, as well, invites the public to visit the holy city on those two days, and many thousands of people are expected. The entire Machpelah Cave - burial site of Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah - will be open to Jewish worshippers on those two days. The gravesite of the fourth Matriarch, Rachel, can be accessed on the way to Hevron (from Jerusalem) by making a 900-meter detour off the Jerusalem-Hevron Tunnels Highway.
