The Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) and Israel Police recently uncovered an Israeli Arab terror cell operating in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras al-Amud, it was cleared for publication Monday, which had been involved in many recent terror attacks.
Islam Najjar, 18, and Hamza Najjar, 22 - two brothers from Ras al-Amud - were arrested by the ISA in October. Later, the investigation expanded to include Nader Nasser, 22, and two minors aged 16 and 17. All were involved in multiple firebomb and rock-throwing attacks against security forces and Israeli citizens.
The minors, in addition, were involved in burning an Egged bus recently, via throwing firebombs and rocks at the bus along with other terror cell members. After the bus driver fled from the scene, the two poured gasoline on the front of the bus and torched it until it burned to the ground.
The questioning also revealed that in another neighborhood, the cell would riot, burn trash cans, block traffic and even cut electricity, in order to attract police attention and then attack them with firebombs.
The cell has been charged with five charges of attempted arson, arson, rioting, attempt assault on a police officer, and deliberate sabotage. More charges are expected pending a formal indictment.
