A group IDF officers and combat soldiers who have declared war on leftist anti-IDF group Breaking the Silence joined Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid in a press conference in Tel Aviv on Sunday to announce new efforts to hinder the organization.

Arutz Sheva spoke to one of the reservists to get his personal perspective on the effort to combat leftist groups.

"[Breaking the Silence] is an organization which takes its information, which is not all truthful, and uses it as artillery on college campuses and all over the world as a way to fund BDS and other organizations that are anti-Israel and anti-Zionist," Nathan Altshuler, IDF reservist, noted. "We are here to stop that, and to show the world the true face of the IDF: a moral army, a democratic army, an army that does the best that it can."

Altshuler noted that personal stories, like his own and those of fellow officers, demonstrate how the IDF takes unprecedented steps to make sure civilians are unharmed during conflict. As such, he said, Breaking the Silence hurts regular soldiers doing their mandatory service the most - by smearing their reputation.

"The first thing on our minds is not to harm civilians, God forbid," he added. "It's to defend Israel and all of its civilians, and we make sure to do our best, and they make sure to do their best."

"We're an army that defends the country, not an army that attacks."
