Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu underwent a colonoscopy exam on Friday morning, for which he was put under a general anesthetic and made unconscious.

The check was performed by Professor Eran Goldin, director of the Gastro-Surgery Department of Shaare Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.

During the colonoscopy several polyps were found, and were successfully removed by the doctor.

Netanyahu was then awakened and returned to full function. He was accompanied by his personal doctor, Dr. Tzvi Berkovitz.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) had filled in for Netanyahu during the procedure, as part of standard protocol given that the prime minister was rendered unconscious.
