A former senior member of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) was investigated by the police on Monday under warning for several long hours, on suspicion of a series of offenses.
The figure was released to five days of house arrest at the end of the investigation, reports Channel 2.
After previously working under Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu early this year, the senior figure then moved to the Likud elections headquarters.
He is suspected of breaching confidence and receiving benefits through fraud. The police are checking whether he was guilty of a conflict of interests relating to a company he owned during his term in the senior position.
In early October, it was revealed that Netanyahu's adviser on Knesset affairs Perah Lerner had been put under investigation for suspicions of fraud, breach of trust, and other offenses.
According to the suspicions against her, Lerner gathered internal information that she came across in her role as Netanyahu's adviser, and passed it to her husband, public relations executive Avi Lerner. The information is suspected to have helped him in several projects and campaigns that he managed.
Avi Lerner owned a PR firm called Lerner Com which did several projects for the government, although at the time the gag order on the investigation was lifted sources close to him denied the firm still works with the government.
