The IDF and defense establishment will reinforce security forces in Judea and Samaria, it was decided Sunday, after multiple military and security agencies met to discuss the ongoing terror wave in Israel.

For the first time since attacks began in late September, the IDF will call up two battalions of reservists at the beginning of 2016 to guard the region. Two battalions of the regular IDF will join them.

The battalions will reportedly be deployed specifically to guard Judea-Samaria's roads.

An IDF spokesman told Maariv Sunday night that further reinforcements are still on the table, and could be deployed at any time depending on how the situation develops.

The spokesman added that the combination of forces is designed to ensure fast deployment, as the regular army is already experienced in handling security situations at checkpoints and could be called away from their designated posts on a moment's notice.
