The height of the cold wave enveloping Israel reached its peak overnight Saturday/Sunday with temperatures in many areas across the country dropping below zero degrees (celsius).
The weather began to drop significantly on Saturday evening, particularly in the mountains. Frost was expected in the valleys.
After a bitterly cold night, the weather on Sunday morning will be sunny but still quite cold. Temperatures will, however, rise slightly in the afternoon marking the end of the cold wave.
High temperatures on Sunday afternoon are: 16°C (60.8°F) in Nahariya, 19° (66.2°) in Tiberias, 14° (57.2°) in Haifa and Nazareth, 11° (51.8°) in Ariel and Jerusalem, 16° (60.8°) in Tel Aviv and Ashkelon, 17° (62.6°) in Be'er Sheva, and 20° (68°) in Eilat.
Temperatures will rise gradually later in the week, and weather will be sunny. Nights in Israel will continue to be chilly.
