Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke on the phone Wednesday afternoon with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The call follows Russia's official announcement on Tuesday that an act of terrorism downed the Metrojet flight which crashed in Sinai several weeks ago, killing 224 people.

Putin vowed to intensify airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIS) in response, calling it the "bloodiest of crimes."

The Kremlin also announced Tuesday that Putin and French President Francois Hollande had agreed to step up cooperation between their military in Syria against ISIS, after the attacks against both their countries.

During the call, Netanyahu expressed condolences to Putin over the crash on behalf of the Israeli government and public.

The two leaders also discussed military operations in Syria as well as the Palestinian issue.

Netanyahu and Putin agreed to meet at the upcoming UN climate summit to be held in Paris, where they will discuss the security situation in Syria in greater detail.

Officials in the Prime Minister's Office said Netanyahu will arrive in Paris on November 29 and return to Israel the following day. They have already begun coordinating meetings for the Prime Minister with other world leaders expected at the summit.

It remains unclear if Netanyahu will meet with US President Barack Obama while in France, as the two met just last week at the White House.
