Despite the diplomatic contacts, Palestinian terrorism continued unabated over the weekend and especially today. In the most severe incident, a terrorist began shooting in all directions in downtown Kfar Sava shortly before 1 PM this afternoon. One young woman was killed; three other people were seriously wounded, and over a dozen others were also taken to the hospital. Three policemen on the scene shot and killed the murderer, while others took chase after a possible second terrorist. It was reported that the Arab was attempting to enter a nearby school when he was shot.

Two hours later, in Jerusalem\'s French Hill junction, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a bus, causing no serious injuries. It was unclear if his target was the bus or the busy overpass that connects Pisgat Ze\'ev with the rest of Jerusalem. Jerusalem Police Chief Mickey Levy said that the presence of police officers there caused the terrorist to change his goal, but that the picture would become clearer after the police view the film taken by the intersection\'s 24-hour-a-day camera. In the past six years, four Israelis have been murdered in six different Arab terrorist attacks in or near the French Hill junction.

As if on a bi-hourly schedule, two hours later another suicide terrorist blew himself up on the northern edge of Pisgat Ze\'ev, at the Hizme Checkpoint. IDF sources said it was a \"work accident,\" and it in fact caused no damage or casualties.

Gen. Zinni, who was meeting with President Moshe Katzav when the news broke of the Kfar Sava attack, reacted sharply to the series of attacks. \"I condemn in the sharpest terms the terrorist attacks that were perpetrated against the people of Israel today,\" he said in an official statement. Zinni said they would not prevent him from continuing his efforts to attain a cease-fire, and demanded that the PA assume responsibility and take action against the terrorism.

In other Moslem/Arab terrorism news, the western Galilee was on high alert today for attacks, prompting Nahariya Mayor Jackie Sabag to call off school in the city. All national school trips for the area were also canceled, and large numbers of security forces were on hand to protect against an infiltration from the north. Details of the warnings were not provided. Arab forces fired at a Border Guard patrol in the Gilboa region, west of the Jordan Valley; no one was hurt, and the policemen returned fire.

The weekend also saw much attempted Palestinian terrorism - although sometimes they hit Arabs by mistake. In the most severe case, a bomb intended for IDF soldiers in Gaza blew up a home instead, killing a woman and her four children. In Jerusalem, stone-throwers between French Hill and Ramot mistakenly hit a fellow Arab last night, injuring him lightly. This morning, an Israeli-Arab driver for the Paz-Gaz company was wounded lightly-to-moderately in a shooting attack on the sparsely-traveled Garbage Route between Beit El and Psagot.

In other, more accurate Palestinian attacks, terrorists shot at Jewish homes in Hevron, a bomb was detonated against soldiers near the Bethlehem area, and soldiers at Rachel’s Tomb were shot at. Shots were also fired at army positions near Chomesh and near PA-controlled Kalkilye, at a motorist at K’vasim Junction in southern Hevron, and at the Jewish community of Ateret north of Ramallah. One soldier was wounded when Arabs in Hevron shot at a group of Israelis who had just completed prayers at the Machpelah Cave on Friday night.
