The condition of a soldier injured in a terrorist stabbing earlier this week has drastically improved, Shaare Zedek Medical Center announced on Wednesday.

An Arab terrorist stabbed the soldier, 19, in the neck on Monday at a junction outside the Arab village of Bayt Einun, located just north of Kiryat Arba in Judea, seriously wounding him.

The combat soldier had been deployed to help beef up security forces in the area, which has been a flashpoint in the recent wave of Arab terrorism, with several stabbings recorded in Kiryat Arba over the course of the month.

Initially admitted to the Jerusalem hospital in serious and unstable condition, on artificial respiration and anesthetized, the soldier is now fully conscious and breathing on his own.

The terrorist, identified as Raed Jaradat, was immediately shot dead by security forces at the scene of the stabbing.

He was later praised as a "martyr" for the attack by Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction on its Facebook page.

Shaare Zedek also reported Wednesday on the slight improvement of three other soldiers injured in recent attacks who are currently being treated at the hospital.
