An Arab terrorist was neutralized on Monday afternoon while attempting a stabbing attack at the Cave of Machpelah in Hevron, at the site where the Jewish patriarchs and matriarchs other than Rachel are buried.
Initial reports indicate the terrorist was shot and critically injured before being able to inflict any wounds.
The attempt comes after an Arab terrorist from Hevron conducted a stabbing attack on Monday morning, stabbing an IDF soldier in the neck and seriously wounding him at a junction just north of Kiryat Arba, located adjacent to Hevron.
The terrorist was shot dead in the attack, and the soldier was evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem where his situation stabilized.
The attack at the Cave of Machpelah comes after UNESCO just last Wednesday passed a Palestinian Authority (PA) resolution, listing Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem and the Cave of Machpelah as "Muslim sites," in an Arab attempt to claim the tombs of the Jewish patriarchs and matriarchs.
