Palestinian terrorists scored an impressive propaganda victory early this morning when they not only opened fire at Israeli soldiers, but were also able to assume the role of the aggrieved party on international media. An army investigation has found that bodyguards of PA\'s Gaza security chief Muhammad Dahlan opened fire on an IDF guard post at the Erez Checkpoint - yet it was reported on CNN, BBC, and elsewhere that the Israelis opened fire. Dahlan even told BBC, \"Israel will not force us with aggression to sign an agreement...\" Moreover, the firing came just as Dahlan and his PA colleague Amin al-Hindi were returning from a \"security coordinating\" talk with IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon, other IDF officers, GSS head Avi Dichter, and representatives of the CIA.

\"Quite a coup,\" said an Arutz-7 commentator. \"The terrorists return from talks with Israeli officials about security, open unprovoked fire on an Israeli position - and Israel is depicted as the aggressor... It also shows yet again that the media are quite willing to take the Palestinian version of events at face value.\"

The IDF investigation showed that shots came from the back window of the lead jeep of the three-car convoy right after it passed through the checkpoint. The soldiers returned precise fire, and the jeep then turned towards a Palestinian Authority building, from where it resumed shooting at the Israelis. Two of Dahlan\'s guards were lightly hurt by the Israeli fire. Dahlan\'s trip to Tel Aviv marked the first time he had been permitted to enter Israel since he masterminded the Kfar Darom school bus bombing, which killed two adults and injured eleven people, including the three Cohen children who each lost part of a leg. Then-opposition leader Ariel Sharon said at the time that Dahlan should be killed.

Dozens of Palestinians rioted early this afternoon at Erez. They attacked IDF soldiers with large rocks and bricks, and the soldiers responded with rubber bullets. One Palestinian is reported dead.
