Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN was “excellent” and the world should learn from it that it is under the same threat of terror as Israel, Interior Minister Silvan Shalom told Arutz Sheva on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

“[Netanyahu] would like all the world to realize that we are in the same boat. Maybe today they think that the threat is only directed towards Israel, but in a short time they will realize that the missiles that the Iranians are developing can hit Europe, the bomb can leak to the American continent as well and become a threat to the United States,” said Shalom.

“For many many years, most of the world believed that terrorism is only Israel’s problem,” he continued. “After 9/11, after terrorist attacks in Beslan in Russia, in Madrid, in many other countries around the world, the world realized that terrorism can hit everywhere and everyone. Since then, the international community has decided to make a move, to combat terrorism, and I’m sure that the bottom line will be that the international community will prevail against the terrorist organizations. The same will be with the Iranians.”

The world will discover shortly that the Iranians are cheating and are continuing to develop nuclear weapons despite the agreement with the West, predicted Shalom.

“We cannot live with the idea that Iran will be a nuclear power. It’s a threat to our existence and not only militarily, economically as well: there will be no foreign investments, even Israelis themselves will hesitate to invest in their own country if their country is under threat,” he said. “Because of that, we must do everything we can to stop them, and the sooner the better.”
