An IDF investigation has found that gunfire was directed last night against Erez Checkpoint soldiers from within the convoy of PA bigwig Muhammad Dahlan. The soldiers returned fire, and armed Palestinians then left the convoy and continued shooting at the Israelis. Two of Dahlan\'s guards were lightly hurt. Beforehand, Dahlan and Amin el-Hindi had met in the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv with Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon and GSS seniors. This was the first time Dahlan had been permitted to enter Israel since the Kfar Darom bus bombing that he masterminded. Then-opposition leader Ariel Sharon had said at the time that Dahlan should be killed.
