An important step in the direction of preventing mortgage-holders from situations of penury is close to being taken in the Knesset. The legislature\'s Law Committee today approved a bill for its final reading, which will possibly be voted on as early as this week. Arutz-7\'s Haggai Seri reports that the bill stipulates that interest on overdue mortgage payments will be limited to a ceiling to be determined by the Finance Minister, and that homeowners will be granted a chance to sell their property themselves in order to pay their debts.
