International superstar and U2 frontman Bono heaped praise on former Israeli president Shimon Peres during the rock band's concert in Toronto on Tuesday night.

Bono lionized the veteran Israeli politician, who was in attendance, for his continued efforts to bring peace to the embattled Middle East.

“We understand President Peres, that you have tried to be the voice of reason. And you’ve dedicated a lot of your life… to try and bring peace in this really dangerous region. And we wish you and your family safe,” Bono said, before launching into a rendition of one of U2's biggest hits, "One."

The U2 frontman also urged Peres not to give up on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

You are “somebody who is active as the voice of reason in a region where the loudest voices are often the bellicose ones,” Bono hailed the former president.

“We wish that you who worked so hard in Oslo, for that incredible Oslo Accord: that you don’t give up the two state solution,” he stressed.

U2's performance at the Air Canada Centre on Tuesday was part of its Innocence and Experience World Tour.
