Where is Elchanan Tenenbaum? This is what many Jews will be asking tonight at a special solidarity event in Jerusalem to mark 500 days since he was kidnapped by Hizbullah terrorists. Organized by The International Coalition for Missing Israeli Soldiers, the event at Safra Square in downtown will feature the participation of former refusenik prisoner Minister Natan Sharansky, Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert, former P.O.W. Uri Ehrenfeld, youth groups, and family members. A live exhibit will place Mr. Tenenbaum\'s 500 days of suffering in bold relief: 500 youth group members will sit with their eyes blindfolded and their hands tied behind their backs.

On Oct. 4, 2000, Col. (res.) Elchanan Tenenbaum left on a business trip to Europe, during which he was abducted by Hizbullah, around the same time the group kidnapped three IDF soldiers. Hizbullah has never allowed any contact between their hostage and the outside world, including his family.

Both the Likud and Labor political parties will hold open their scheduled meetings this coming Monday by noting the 500 days of Elchanan. They will also hear a statement prepared by the youth groups on his behalf. Finally, the Knesset will hold a special debate on Wednesday on the Hizbullah kidnapping of Elchanan Tenenbaum.
