The IDF continued its anti-terrorism offensives in Gaza and elsewhere in PA-controlled areas last night and today. The army reported heavy fighting in Khan Yunis, and IDF officer Lt. Pinchas Cohen, 23, of Jerusalem, was killed. His funeral will depart this evening from Ofrah, where he was born and lived until his marriage last year, and he will be buried in Mt. Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem.



Soldiers were fired upon during the night in several areas of Gaza, including along the border fence near Kibbutz Nir Oz, where a second soldier was killed. His name has not yet been released for publication, pending notification of his family.



The IDF efforts against Palestinian terrorists and terrorist infrastructure in Gaza took place today in at least five locations, on the ground, in the air, and from the sea. Israeli planes bombed Fatah targets in the villages of Dahariye, Yata, and Dura in the Southern Mt. Hevron area, and several PA Preventive Security buildings were also hit. Seven Arabs have been killed, including a member of the PA\'s naval force, and IDF engineering forces destroyed the houses of three wanted Palestinians responsible for previous terrorist attacks. Israeli forces also operated under fire on the Israeli-Egyptian border near Rafah, exposing and destroying a tunnel used for smuggling weapons.



Last night, three leading wanted terrorists were killed by an IDF missile fired at their car in Bituniya, near Ramallah. Among them was the man responsible for planning the murders of some 18 Israelis, including Binyamin and Talya Kahane, Eish-Kodesh Gilmore in Jerusalem, and the triple murder of teacher Sarah Lisha and two soldiers at the Haramiya Junction north of Ofrah. This morning, a wanted Hamas operative was killed in an explosion in his home in Gaza. A member of the PA\'s General Intelligence was arrested for terrorist activity north of Ramallah, as was a PFLP leader in Kalkilye.
