Heavy rains brought performances at the SummerStage in Central Park for the 22nd Annual Israel Day Concert to an early end on Sunday, but the top Jewish musicians there were not about to let the inclement weather put a damper on their spirits.

Backstage, the singers broke into a spontaneous improvisation initiated by popular Israeli singer Gad Elbaz, whose performance on stage was rained out.

Over 10,000 people took part in the concert, but were forced to leave Rumsey Playfield ahead of schedule to escape the rain.

But Dr. Joseph Frager, organizer of the concert, and Dr. Paul Brody, chairperson of the concert, stayed to weather the storm with the extraordinary musical talents they had brought together with the impromptu jam session videotaped by chairperson Drora Brody.

The musicians included Elbaz, Israeli pianist Shlomi Aharoni, singers Tal Vaknin and Mati Shriki, who played the guitar during the improvisation, French singers Israel Alliel and Steve Lucas, guitarist Moishy Schwartz, as well as Zvika Bornstein and Danny Finkelman.
