Five Jewish residents of Metzad, south of Jerusalem, were arrested Sunday on suspicion that they attacked Arabs and leftists in November.

The incident took place near Metzad – also known as Asfar – between Bethlehem and Hevron. The Arabs and leftists were reportedly plowing Arab land when the Jews began to throw rocks at them. A physical and verbal altercation followed.

The suspects told police interrogators that their personal security was violated and their suspicion was aroused when the Arabs showed up next to the community. The five were released under restrictive conditions.

The police said that the investigative material would be transferred from the Nationalistic Crime Unit in Judea and Samaria District to the district's prosecution unit, which will consider filing charges.
