(5 March – 06:22) Three persons were killed and 42 wounded in the terrorist shooting attack at the Seafood Market in Tel Aviv at about 2:15am.
The terrorist, Ibrahim Hammed Hasouna, from Gaza, reportedly a member of the Fatah al-Aqsa Brigade, opened fire at persons in front of the restaurant from the Ma’ariv Bridge. The bridge is located on Derech Begin Street, corner of Lincoln. As he continued firing, he made his way towards the crowded restaurant, shooting in all directions and throwing two fragmentation grenades.
The restaurant was crowded with patrons attending a pre-wedding party for Irit Rachamim who is planning to wed soccer star Liron Besis on Wednesday. The terrorist also threw two hand grenades that failed to explode. When he ran out of bullets or the weapon jammed, he pulled out a knife and began to stab persons in the area. The terrorist was eventually shot by police.
There were eyewitness reports that a second terrorist, dressed as an Orthodox Jew, fled the scene. Yarkon Police Chief Uri Bar-Lev is reporting that following the preliminary investigation and a search of the area, there was not a second terrorist.
Bomb squad technicians arrived on the scene and neutralized the two grenades without incident. A comprehensive sweep of the area revealed there were no additional bombs.
At the time of the attack, other members of the Hapoel Tel Aviv soccer team were present. Restaurant owners reported there were security personnel, but they were unarmed.
Police are already asking how the lone terrorist made it from Gaza to Tel Aviv unnoticed. Tel Aviv area police announced there were no specific intelligence community warnings for the area.
Tel Aviv and other police districts remain on heightened alert against terror attacks as Arab terrorists continue efforts nationwide to strike out at innocent Israelis.
