Tekuma Central Committee meeting

Twenty-five members of the Tekuma faction's Central Committee have demanded an immediate meeting be held to discuss ongoing coalition negotiations between Jewish Home and Likud.

The Central Committee, responsible for selecting Tekuma's representatives to the Knesset, now on the Jewish Home list, and determining the party's guidelines, are seething over the likelihood of Likud overlooking their demands.

Tekumah has one “red line”: a clear directive to significantly increase building in Judea and Samaria.

In an appeal sent to Tekuma chairman Uri Ariel and to party CEO Ophir Soffer on Thursday, committee members stated: "Coalition talks between Jewish Home, of which we are a partner, and Likud stand at their peak."

"According to the information published in the media, it appears these talks have failed to produce, for now, significant gains on the issues that matter to us as a party, such as representing the Judea and Samaria communities, limiting the legal system, and portfolios we should receive," the members continued.

"Yesterday, the Central Committee sent a message that a meeting will be held next Monday, in which updates will be delivered regarding negotiations," members added. "But a meeting of the Central Committee after a coalition deal has been signed would make it very hard for the party to receive an educated decision on the heavy questions that are in front of it."

"We seek to convene a Central Committee meeting immediately to discuss our red lines, which, without their approval, will force Tekuma's Knesset members to abandon the coalition," the committee members demanded.

A similar directive was issued on Wednesday to Tekuma MKs Uri Ariel and Betzalel Smotrich reminding them to insist Tekuma's demands are written into a coalition agreement between Jewish Home and Likud.

A top Tekuma official told Arutz Sheva on Wednesday that Jewish Home must demand an outright commitment by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to halt all building freezes, otherwise "we have no reason to be in his fourth government."
